West Bengal Teacher Mamta government got a big relief from the Supreme Court on Tuesday (April 8) in the recruitment scam. The Supreme Court on Friday canceled a part of the Calcutta High Court verdict. In which a CBI inquiry was ordered for the decision of the Bengal government to appoint additional teachers in government and aided schools.
The High Court ordered an inquiry.
The Supreme Court clarified that the CBI investigation of the appointment of 25,753 teachers in government and aided schools in West Bengal and other aspects related to the appointment of employees will continue as per the directions of the Calcutta High Court.
West Bengal Education Department had created around 6,000 additional posts for SSC recruitment. This decision has also been approved by the State Cabinet. The Calcutta High Court had said, “The decision to create additional vacancies is not correct.” If necessary, the CBI can detain cabinet members and interrogate them. The Bengal government had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the High Court order.
Court declared appointment of 25,000 teachers illegal
On April 3, a bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar declared the appointment of 25,753 teachers and employees canceled and declared the entire selection process illegal.
