Major Relief for NEET UG Candidates: Window to Update Bank Account for Fee Refund Goes Live Today Major Relief for NEET UG Candidates, Window to Update Bank Account for Fee Refund Goes Live Today

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made a very important and relief announcement for lakhs of students who are facing mental stress after the cancellation of NEET UG 2026 examination. NTA is going to activate the online window for updating bank account information for all the candidates from today i.e. 21st May 2026 to get the Registration Fee Refund.

It is noteworthy that when the historic decision to cancel the NEET 2026 exam was taken, the government and NTA had made it clear that no additional fee will be charged from the students for the re-examination (Re-NEET). The original fees deposited for the examination held on May 3 will be fully refunded and the entire expense of the upcoming examination will be borne by NTA itself.

This window will protect students filling forms from cyber cafes from fraud

NTA has officially clarified that this special option to update bank account details is being given because students in a large part of the country had filled their application forms through cyber cafes, Common Service Center (CSC) or any third person.

Default Refund Rule: Normally the refund amount is credited back to the same account from which the online payment was made (debit/credit card or net banking) at the time of filling the form.

Money will come directly into the account: If NTA had not opened this new window, the refund money of lakhs of students would have gone directly into the bank accounts of cyber café owners or agents. Now students can visit the official portal of NTA and enter their or their parents’ updated bank account details, so that the refund amount can reach their account directly without any fraud.

The window to change exam city will close tonight

Along with fee refund, NTA has also given a big opportunity to those students who have changed their current address or location after the cancellation of the exam. Students can change the preferred exam city for re-exam as per their convenience.

Note the date and time: This official link to update the center or city of the examination will remain active only till 11:50 pm today, 21 May 2026. After this there will be no chance to change the city.

The agency has already cautioned the candidates that the exam center allotted for the re-examination may be completely different from their old centre. The new allotment will be made only on the basis of the new city choice chosen by the students and the availability of centers in that city.
