Subdivision level: Assistant Electrical Engineer will give permission.

countryside: The Junior Electrical Engineer will take the decision, but it will be monitored by the Assistant Electrical Engineer.

all day long only 2 to 3 times Only shutdown can be taken.

shutdown period 15 to 20 minutes Will not exceed.

At least between two shutdowns interval of 4 to 5 hours Will be mandatory.

Emphasis on security, monitoring and accountability

JBVNL has given strict instructions regarding power cuts as well as safety of employees and sub-station arrangements:

Safety Equipment: Use of safety equipment has been made mandatory for all manpower (employees) during line repairs.

Wrongful stoppage of work: If any employee is caught getting work done by another employee during the feeder shutdown, the employee on duty will be immediately removed and disciplinary action will be taken.

Training and Maintenance: Training programs will be organized for the manpower from time to time so that efficiency increases. Also, orders have been given to ensure regular cleaning of all electrical sub-stations and proper lighting arrangements.

Objective of JBVNL: The main objective of this new order is to prevent arbitrary power cuts and to provide a stable power supply to consumers. The management believes that if the time and interval of shutdown is fixed, the quality of power in both rural and urban areas of the state will improve.
