News India Live, Digital Desk: Former Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, who was once powerful in the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab, has finally been caught by the police. Bhullar, who was involved in the case of suspicious suicide of Warehousing Corporation officer Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, was arrested from Mandi Gobindgarh of Fatehgarh Sahib on Monday (23 March 2026). Before dying, Randhawa had released an emotional video and made serious allegations of torture against Bhullar, after which there was an uproar in the entire Punjab. The ministers who used to talk in ‘air’ till yesterday, are today in the custody of the police and with their arrest, a big ‘credit war’ has started in the state.

What is the whole matter? (That last video of the officer)

The matter came into limelight when Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, District Manager of Amritsar Warehousing Corporation, ended his life by swallowing poisonous substance. Randhawa alleged in his suicide note and a video that Minister Laljit Bhullar was continuously threatening him to award a tender to his father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar. It is alleged that on March 13, Randhawa was called to the minister’s house, beaten up and made to write a false confession at gunpoint. Due to this humiliation and fear, the officer embraced death.

Resignation and arrest drama

As soon as the video went viral, the opposition (Congress, BJP and Akali Dal) surrounded the government. Amidst all-round pressure, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday sought resignation from Bhullar. Bhullar resigned but continued to avoid the police. Randhawa’s family had given an ultimatum that they would not perform the last rites until he was arrested. Eventually the police arrested him from Mandi Gobindgarh, although Bhullar claims that he has ‘surrendered’ himself. Police will present him in Amritsar court today (Tuesday).

Amit Shah’s big statement: Center ready for CBI investigation

Even after the arrest of Bhullar, the matter does not seem to be calming down. Its echo was also heard in Parliament on Monday. When Amritsar MP Gurjit Singh Aujla raised this issue, Home Minister Amit Shah clearly said that if all the MPs of Punjab make a demand in writing, then the Central Government will immediately look into this matter. CBI investigation Will order. BJP and Congress allege that Punjab Police will not be able to investigate this case impartially as it may be directly linked to ‘big bosses’.

AAP vs Opposition: ‘Credit War’ begins

Aam Aadmi Party: Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann have described this as an example of ‘zero tolerance’. He says that our government not only removed its own minister without discrimination but also sent him to jail.

Opposition (Pratap Singh Bajwa/Sunil Jakhar): Opposition leaders say that the government was trying its best to save Bhullar. They bowed down when the joint opposition gheraoed the CM House and faced water cannons. Jakhar alleged that the money was going to ‘Delhi’ through Bhullar, hence the government was afraid of a CBI investigation.
