How to get Aadhaar online?

If your mobile number is linked to Aadhaar, you can easily retrieve your Aadhaar number or EID by using the “Retrieve UID/EID” option on the UIDAI website. You just need to enter your name, registered mobile number or email address and a captcha. After this an OTP will be sent to your phone or email. Once the OTP is entered correctly, your Aadhaar number or EID will be sent via SMS. The process is free and takes a few minutes.

If your mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar, you will have to visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre. Here, after providing information like your name, gender, district or pin code, biometric verification is done through fingerprint or iris scan. If the verification is correct, the operator prints your e-Aadhaar and returns it to you. Its fee is ₹30.

You can also get your Aadhaar number by calling 1947. If your information matches, you will be given an Aadhaar number. Then, by calling again and providing your Aadhaar number, date of birth and PIN code, you will receive your Aadhaar number through IVRS. This service is completely free.

If your Aadhaar card is lost, visit any Aadhaar center and provide your Aadhaar number or 28 digit EID number. After biometric verification, the operator will print your e-Aadhaar. Its cost is ₹30.
