News India Live, Digital Desk: There is always a phase of rhetoric in politics, but there are some things which go straight to the heart or give rise to a new debate. Recently, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi once again said something which has made the entire BJP aggressive. Owaisi said that in his lifetime he wants to see a ‘hijab wearing girl’ sitting on the chair of the Prime Minister of India.
This may sound quite inspiring for his supporters, but BJP has created such a problem here that it has put Owaisi in the circle of questions.
Bandi Sanjay’s answer which is now in discussion
People are considering what BJP National General Secretary and MP Bandi Sanjay said while taunting on this as quite ‘real’. He asked Owaisi a direct question that if you want to see a Prime Minister in hijab or burqa, then why not start this from your own home i.e. your party?
Bundy Sanjay said, “Asaduddin Owaisi Bhai, you have been the leader of your party for years. If your thinking is to advance women, then make a woman who wears a burqa the next president of your party AIMIM. Before giving advice to others, set an example in your party.”
The real war behind the scenes
This issue is not just about hijab or status. Actually, BJP wants to prove that opposition parties often talk ’emotionally’ for vote bank, but when it comes to sharing their own power or rights, they step back. Bundy Sanjay argues that Owaisi wants to maintain only male dominance in his party and restricts women only to voting.
Religious politics and the question of real development
On the other hand, Owaisi has been saying that wearing hijab is one’s personal choice and constitutionally any citizen of India can reach the top post of the country. But this war of words has made it clear that there are going to be big attacks in the name of ‘identity politics’ and ‘equality’ in the coming elections.
What next?
This question is now being raised even among the general public, is it enough to just make statements or should the parties really appoint their women to senior positions? This war between BJP and AIMIM does not seem to be calming down at the moment, because Bundy Sanjay has pressed that vein of Owaisi from where questions are now being raised on the internal structure of his own party.
In the end, whether it is hijab or saree, the point should be that whoever occupies that position should take the country on the path of progress. But this is politics, sir, here the issue stops only on ‘head cap’ and ‘face veil’.
