Kshatriyas angry with BJP, Muslims angry with SP: These 13 seats will prove to be game changers in the last phase

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Whoever wins the battle of Uttar Pradesh will have an easy path to Delhi but this time the electoral battle in Uttar Pradesh is a little different compared to the last two elections. Just like the BJP alliance had to face a challenge in Purvanchal in the last election, the same is being seen in Western UP this time.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, out of 27 seats in Western UP, BJP won 19 seats, Samajwadi Party won four seats and BSP won four seats, whereas in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 24 seats in Western UP. In this election, SP won 3 seats while BSP did not get a single seat. Congress could not win a single seat in both the elections.

Now if we look at the results of the last two elections, BJP's image is once again at stake while Congress has nothing much to lose. According to election experts, there is a close contest on 13 out of 27 seats in Western UP in this election. These 13 seats are Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bijnor, Nagina, Moradabad, Amroha, Mainpuri, Badaun, Firozabad, Sambhal and Rampur.

BJP's challenge

This time, along with other parties, BJP's own leaders have also posed a challenge. BJP's internal conflict came to the fore and Sanjiv Soma's dispute with candidate Sanjiv Baliyan was not resolved. Sangeet Som's constituency Sardhana saw the lowest turnout and if the fear of Thakor votes turns out to be true, then problems will increase for BJP. On Muzaffarnagar seat, SP played the Jat card and made Harendra Malik its candidate.

BJP played the Ram card on Meerut seat and made Arun Govil of Ramayana fame its candidate. However, SP had changed its candidate thrice on this seat. SP finally made Sunita Verma its candidate. On the other hand, SP supporters remained confused and Muslim supporters got angry. Now if BSP cuts votes on this seat, then a reversal is possible.

Differences in SP

There is a contest between Congress candidate Imran Masood and BJP candidate Raghav Lakhanpal on Saharanpur Lok Sabha seat. Congress has won this seat with more than 40 percent Muslim population six times. There has been heavy voting in Muslim dominated areas. Something similar is being seen in Moradabad seat as well.

The Muslim voters' displeasure with SP in Moradabad seat can be a threat for the party. SP has cut ST Hasan's ticket and made Ruchi Veera its candidate. This time BJP has fielded Sarvesh Kumar Singh. If Muslim votes decrease, BJP can benefit from it. Like Moradabad, there was a similar challenge for SP in Rampur seat too.

In Rampur, BJP has again nominated sitting MP Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi. When SP nominated Mohibullah Nadvi, who is not close to Azam Khan, and only 45 percent voting took place on this seat. Azam Khan's supporters, Waters, were believed to be angry. If the cadre votes decrease, SP may face problems.
