Know how many sim cards are linked to your aadhaar and how to deactivate them

News India Live, Digital Desk: Avoid sim card fraud: Nowadays, whenever a person takes a new SIM card, he has to verify the identity using his Aadhaar card. While this process was adopted to ensure security, some fraudsters have taken advantage of this and issued SIM cards illegally on the Aadhaar numbers of the people. Often these SIM cards are used for criminal activities or financial fraud, which the person has to bear the brunt, on the basis of which the SIM is issued. In such a situation, it is very important to know how many SIM cards are registered on your basis and how to block it if you get an unknown SIM.

This problem is also serious because unauthorized SIM cards can be used in fishing, online fraud, fake calls and other crimes, which can not only endanger your financial security but also your personal security. If you do not verify all the SIM cards issued in your name, you may face legal difficulties without any mistake.

The good news is that the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) of the Government of India has launched a special portal to deal with this problem, named TAFAAC or ‘Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection’. This portal allows users to check how many mobile numbers are registered on their Aadhaar card and they can easily block those numbers that they never took.

It is quite simple to use this portal. You just have to visit the official website of the Tafaac portal. There you have to enter your current mobile number which is link to your Aadhaar. Next, a one-time password (OTP) will come on your mobile number, which you will be able to log in after entering. As soon as you log in, you will see a list of all the mobile numbers which are connected to your Aadhaar number. Looking at this list carefully, you can identify that there is no number that you do not use or about which you do not know.

If you see a mobile number in your list that is not yours or which you have stopped using, you can easily report that number through the portal and request to block it. The Department of Telecommunications will then examine your request and take necessary action. This initiative empowers customers and helps in providing protection from fraud from misuse of their identity. You can protect your identity and financial future using this feature.
