News India Live, Digital Desk: Kanwadias are Superstitious: Samajwadi Party SP MLA Akhilesh Yadav Paramahansa in Uttar Pradesh faced heavy criticism due to the recent comments made about a religious community. He called the kanwadis “superstitious”, causing a big controversy. Now after all -round pressure, MLA Paramhansa has apologized to his statement and called it a ‘mistake’. He made a disputed statement during the month of Sawan, when thousands of devotees join the ‘Kavad Yatra’. The MLA allegedly stated that the Kanwar travelers are “immersed in superstition” and they do not get anything from these activities. His statement was considered to hurt religious sentiments, after which Hindu organizations and various political parties reacted strongly. He also faced social boycott and political consequences. Seeing the situation deteriorating and under the pressure of his party and community, MLA Akhilesh Yadav Paramahansa came on the backfoot. He regretted his comment by releasing a video statement. He said that he did not mean to say that Kanwar travelers are superstitious, but their intention was something else, which was misinterpreted. He described it as his mistake and said that he respects all religious sentiments. After this apology, the dispute is expected to calm down to some extent.
