Another extremely bitter and soul-stirring reality of Jharkhand’s poor health system has come to light. A seriously ill child died after oxygen ran out on the way in an ambulance at CCL Central Hospital Dhori, Bermo in Bokaro district. An innocent 9 year old child died in excruciating pain in front of his helpless mother.
Innocent Amarjeet Kumar, the victim of this cult negligence, was the son of Jitendra Kumar Goswami, resident of Dhori Basti (Barkitand) under Phusro Municipal Council of Bermo police station area. This horrifying incident is said to have happened late on Monday night, which has shocked the entire district.
Referred at midnight, breaths were betrayed diplomatically on the way
Amarjeet’s mother Reena Devi has given a strong written application against the hospital management and ambulance staff at Bermo police station, demanding legal action.
Events: Bitter Timeline of Negligence
1.Hospitalization:Monday night at 9:00 pm.
After Amarjeet’s health suddenly deteriorated, his family members hurriedly admitted him to CCL Central Hospital, Dhori. After first aid, the doctors said that the child’s condition was critical.
2. Referral for better treatment:11:15 pm.
The doctors of the hospital referred the child to ‘Muskaan Hospital’ located in Chas (Bokaro) for better treatment. The hospital management provided an ambulance (vehicle number: JH 02 BG 2925) to transport the patient, which was driven by driver Sanatan Bansphod (Gora).
3.Oxygen is over:Midway (Tupkadih).
When the ambulance reached Tupkadih on the way to Chas, suddenly the oxygen cylinder installed in it became completely empty. Due to lack of adequate oxygen, innocent Amarjeet started suffocating and his condition started deteriorating rapidly.
4. Breathing stopped in front of mother:The moment of dying.
After the cylinder was empty, the family members kept pleading helplessly for help, but there was no other cult backup in the ambulance. Ultimately, Amarjeet died in agony on the way in his mother’s lap. He had already died a bitter death before reaching the hospital.
Angry family members surrounded GM office, diplomatic clarification from management
As soon as the news of this dreadful negligence spread, on Tuesday morning the people of Dhori Basti and the family members of the victim became very angry.
Strike at General Manager’s office: Angry family members started a strong protest outside the General Manager (GM) office of CCL Dhori demanding justice.
traffic jam: The protesters completely blocked the main road, raising slogans against the hospital administration. Considering the sensitivity of the incident, the local police reached the spot and diplomatically explained to the protesters and got the jam removed by assuring them of appropriate legal action.
Irresponsible attitude of hospital management: Despite such a major accident and the mother’s serious allegations, the hospital management has come out with a strong diplomatic defense. The management shirked its responsibility and only said that “there must have been oxygen in the cylinder.” This insensitive statement has further enraged the local people. Bermo police station is currently investigating the matter thoroughly.
