News India Live, Digital Desk: If any young MP is being discussed the most in this winter session of Parliament, then it is the Samajwadi Party MP from Kairana. Iqra HasanWhen Iqra, who often looks calm, expresses her views, it is with logic and facts, Recently, amidst the ongoing political tug of war regarding ‘Vande Mataram’, he has given a statement which has forced even the ruling party to think,

You might remember that the issue of “Vande Mataram Sir” was very hot in the House. On this, Iqra Hasan expressed her views and explained very clearly why Muslims feel uncomfortable about some parts of this song.

Let us understand his arguments in simple words.

‘Sujlam-Sufalam’ is not worship, it is praise.
Iqra Hasan said very clearly in the Parliament that there is nothing wrong in the initial words of ‘Vande Mataram’ – Sujalam, Sufalam, Malayaj Sheetalam. Explaining its meaning, he said that it is a praise of our mother earth.

  • Sujalam: Which has good water.
  • Suflam: Which is laden with good fruits.
  • Malayaj Shitalam: Where cool winds come from the Malay Mountains.

Iqra said that this is an example of the beauty of nature and no Muslim has any problem in this. The problem arises where the next parts of the song talk about ‘worshipping’ the earth by considering it as a goddess. He explained that worship of anyone other than God (Allah) is prohibited in Islam. This does not mean that patriotism is less, just the way of worship is different.

Why mention Atal Bihari Vajpayee?
Iqra played a huge “trump card” in her talk. Former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mentioned ji. Iqra reminded that at one time Vajpayee ji and some other leaders had also accepted that if someone had objection to singing the entire song for religious reasons, then he could sing only the first two lines (Sujlaam-Sufalam ones).

Iqra sarcastically asked, “If we are saying the same thing today, then we are called ‘appeasement’ people. So was Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji also doing appeasement?”

It is wrong to question patriotism
The SP MP emphasized that the criteria for proving everyone’s patriotism cannot be the same. He said that some salute the country by saying ‘Vande Mataram’ and some by saying ‘Jai Hind’. The feeling should be of respect for the country, not of calling it forcefully.
