Bhopal: Taking an important step towards modernization of Indian Railways, Rani Kamalapati railway station (formerly Habibganj railway station) has become the first private model railway station in the country. Located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, this station has been developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, and is providing passengers experience of modern facilities like airport.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this world -class redeveloped station in November 2021. The redevelopment has been done in collaboration with a private developer, Bansal Group, and Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC). At a cost of about ₹ 450 crore, the station has been upgraded to international standards, including modern waiting room, food courts, food courts, clean toilets, CCTV cameras for better security, and energy-skilled systems.

Rani Kamalapati railway station is proving to be a milestone not only in passenger facilities but also in the identity of the city. It is named after Gond Rani Kamalapati, who respects the historical heritage of the region. The station is working as a model for Indian Railways to modernize many other stations in the future, focused on making the journey more comfortable and skilled.

Indian Railways is currently operating high-speed trains like Vande India, Tejas, Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto, and is also working on future transport techniques such as bullet train and hyperloop. The development of private model stations such as Rani Kamalapati is an important part of this change, which will ensure better passenger experience and more efficient rail operation.
