Nageswaran says that today’s world has become very uncertain. There is a war going on somewhere, and a trade war has broken out somewhere. In such a situation, if we remain dependent on others for the needs of our country, then as soon as something goes wrong in the world, it will directly hit our pockets and our GDP. Therefore, there is now an “urgent” need for ‘Indigenization’.
Slogans alone will not suffice
Till now ‘Self-reliant India’ or ‘Make in India’ was running like a campaign. But Nageswaran made it clear that this should no longer be just a government slogan. We have to rapidly set up our own technology and manufacturing units in technology, raw materials for medicines, electronics and defense sectors.
What effect will this have on the common man?
Imagine, if the use of things made in India increases and the spare parts are made here, then there will be two big benefits. First, the prices of our goods will not increase again and again due to changes in the value of the dollar. Second – Many new job opportunities will be created in the manufacturing sector for the youth of the country.

This gesture of Nageswaran is also for those companies which take shortcuts by importing goods from abroad and selling them here by labeling them. Now is the time to really invest in Research and Development (R&D).
To cut a long story short, if India has to truly become a ‘developed country’, it has now become mandatory to have Indian minds and Indian hard work behind our machines and our technology. We have to sow today what we can safely harvest tomorrow.
