Tharoor also criticized any discussion of America’s role as an intermediary between India and Pakistan. He said that mediation shows that both countries are equal in this case, whereas it is not so. He said, “There is no similarity between terrorists and their victims.” He said, “There is no comparison between a country that shelters democracy and terrorism like India.”
He said that after the attacks, senior American officials had expressed support by talking to Indian leaders. But he estimated that the US would have even talked to Pakistani leaders to prevent further violence. He said, “This is just my guess.”
Talking about Operation Sindoor, Tharoor said that India only attacked terrorist bases in Pakistan. In contrast, Pakistan attacked citizens in India because, as they said, “There is no terrorist base in India.” He said that India’s military campaign was “accurate and balanced”, and was not run by targeting common people. He said, “This is not India vs Pakistan. It is India vs terrorism.”
When he was asked about China’s support of China, including military technology, Tharoor accepted the role of investment in China’s belt and road initiative and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He revealed that Pakistan tried to use Chinese military systems during the struggle, but India discovered clever ways to respond.
He mentioned the Chinese system called “Kill Chen”, but said that India changed its strategy and postponed it. According to him, similarly the Indian Army managed to attack 11 airports across the border.
Tharoor commented on the deep meaning of struggle. He said that war is a distraction for India, but it is a way to remain powerful and relevant for Pakistan’s army.
