Under government rules, if an officer does not vacate the housing on time, he is charged a heavy fine or a penal rent. This fare is many times more than normal fares. On the basis of this rule, IARI has sent a bill of Rs 1.63 crore by adding the fare for a long time and the fine imposed on it.
Demand for recovery from DM
IARI has sent this notice to the current District Magistrate (DM) Durga Shakti Nagpal of Banda and asked them to pay this amount. The institute has written a letter to the district administration requesting to ensure that this arrears are recovered.

While notice has been sent to recover such a huge amount from a senior IAS officer, it also shows the strictness of the rules related to allotment of government houses and vacating them.
