This message is of a climate worker closed under the National Security Act (NSA) in Jodhpur Central Jail after the violence in Leh. He sent a passionate message from jail on Saturday. Wangchuk took this message through his elder brother Setan Dorje and sent through lawyer Mustafa Haji, who came to meet him in jail.
Wangchuk’s new message is for the people of Ladakh and all over India. In this message, Wangchuk informed about his health and thanked everyone for concerns and prayers. He expressed deep condolences to the families of four people killed in the violence in Leh. Wangchuk demanded an independent judicial inquiry into the murders and said that he was ready to stay in jail until the investigation is completed.

Wangchuk said in his message, “I am physically and mentally fine and thank everyone for his anxiety and prayers.” He further said, “My heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, and my prayers are with those who were injured and arrested.” Wangchuk clearly demanded, “There should be an independent judicial inquiry into the murder of our four people, and until it happens, I am ready to stay in jail.”
I will not back down from my demand.
Wangchuk expressed his solidarity with the people of Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and Ladakh. He said, “I stand firmly with the top organization and KDA in their demand for the sixth schedule and state status and I support all the works of the top institution.” Wangchuk appealed to the people to maintain peace and unity. He said, “I appeal to people to maintain peace and unity and continue my struggle peacefully with non -violence in a true Gandhian manner.”
Wangchuk was arrested after the violence.
Wangchuk was arrested on 26 September 2025, two days after the protests in Leh demanding state status and sixth schedule status. Four people were killed and more than 90 were injured in the violence. After being arrested under NSA, Wangchuk was transferred to Jodhpur Jail in Rajasthan.
Wife reached Supreme Court
Wangchuk’s wife Geetanjali J. Angamo has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging his detention. His immediate release has been demanded in the petition. The Supreme Court will hear this petition on Monday, October 6, 2025. According to the court’s cose list, the case will be heard by Justice Arvind Kumar and Justice NV Anjaria. Wangchuk’s supporters and activists are eagerly waiting for the court’s decision, which the leaders of the Ladakh movement are calling an attack on democratic rights.
