News India Live, Digital Desk: An indecent and inflammatory comment made against the mother of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has created a stir in the entire state including the capital Lucknow. There were massive demonstrations at Hazratganj and Atal intersection in Lucknow on Saturday and Sunday (8 March 2026) in protest against this controversial statement given by Abdullah Salim, a Maulana from Bihar. The protesters burnt the effigy of the accused and demanded his immediate arrest.

What is the whole matter? Why was there an uproar over Maulana’s statement?

In fact, during a public religious gathering organized in Bihar, Maulana Abdullah Salim used extremely indecent and provocative language against CM Yogi Adityanath and his mother. As soon as the video of this statement went viral on social media, the sentiments of Hindu organizations and the general public were hurt. The youth leading the protest in Lucknow say that such language against one’s mother is not acceptable in any civilized society.

Strong demonstration and effigy burning in Lucknow

On Sunday, a large number of youth, advocates and people from social organizations gathered at the major intersections of the capital. The youth protesting at Hazratganj intersection burnt the effigy of accused Maulana Abdullah Salim and raised slogans. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, Lucknow Police had to deploy heavy force on the spot. The protesters have warned that if the accused is not arrested soon, they will launch a statewide agitation.

Police action: Case registered on the complaint of BJP district president

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Bharatiya Janata Party District President Ravi Kumar Mishra gave a written complaint to the Lucknow Police. The administration has assured the protesters that strict action will be ensured as per the law.
