Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh): A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. Eight pilgrims died on the spot in a massive head-on collision between a Bolero and a lorry (truck) near Chilakaldona village in Mantralayam mandal on Thursday morning. 10 to 12 other people have been seriously injured in this tragic accident, who have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
Residents of Karnataka had gone on pilgrimage
Initial investigation by the police has revealed that all the victims of the accident were residents of Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. All these devotees had set out on pilgrimage riding in a Bolero car. As soon as it reached Chilakaldona village near Mantralayam, a speeding lorry coming from the front hit the Bolero hard.
The magnitude of the accident: Bolero blown to pieces
The collision was so severe that the Bolero vehicle was completely shattered and the people traveling in it were badly trapped. After receiving information from the local people and Kurnool police, after a lot of effort, they rescued the injured people trapped in the Bolero.

Condition of the injured: 10 to 12 people seriously injured, who are undergoing treatment at Emeganur Hospital.

As soon as information about the accident was received, nearby villagers also ran to help. The injured were immediately shifted to Emeganur Hospital, where a team of doctors is trying to save their lives. According to police officials, the condition of some of the injured remains very critical, due to which the number of casualties is expected to increase.
Kurnool police have registered a case and started investigating what caused the accident—whether it was a case of overtaking or the driver had dozed off.
