On Thursday, ED took action against the builder lobby and attached property worth Rs 834 crore in a case related to the tenure of former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda. This includes property worth Rs 501.13 crore of EMAAR India Limited and property worth Rs 332.69 crore of MGF Development Limited. These two companies have temporarily attached 401.65 acres of land worth Rs 834.03 crore. This land is located in 20 villages around Gurugram and Delhi in Haryana. It is alleged that the then government had forced the farmers to sell their land to builders at throwaway prices by threatening them with land acquisition. Meanwhile, while talking to journalists, Hooda said that this is an old case. I have nothing to do with it. The FIR in which my name is mentioned is an old case. Hooda avoided most of the questions regarding ED's action on this issue.
Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala took a dig at the ED action and said that ED means Election Department of BJP. Surjewala said that CBI means Captive Bureau of BJP. Wherever elections are held in the country, they show the actions of ED, CBI and Income Tax to remain in the media headlines.
