Bail plea of Sant Chinmoy Krishna Das rejected: Bangladesh court has given a big blow to Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishna Das. Today the court rejected his bail application. Now the lawyers of the Hindu saint are preparing to go to the High Court. The former ISKCON member was brought to the court for hearing amid tight security.

Public prosecutor advocate Mufizul Haq Bhuiyan said Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Saiful Islam heard the arguments of both the sides for about half an hour. After this, Das’s bail application was rejected. Das’s lawyer Apoorva Kumar said that now plans are being made to approach the High Court for bail. Das was arrested by Dhaka Police on 25 November on charges of treason.
A day earlier, Apoorva had informed that, ‘We have come to Chittagong under the banner of NGB Okya Parishad and will go to the court for Chinmay’s bail. ‘I have already received power of attorney from Chinmay. I am a member of the Supreme Court and Chittagong Bar Association. In such a situation, I do not need the seal of approval of any local lawyer to take the case forward.
Even before this, senior High Court lawyer Ravindra Ghosh had applied for anticipatory bail, which was rejected. According to reports, Chinmay did not have the power of attorney and the seal of the local lawyer to present his case in the court. On 3 December 2023, Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Saiful Islam fixed 2 January for hearing.
