Mumbai – The Bombay High Court was surprised to know that no FIR has been lodged against five policemen despite the clear order of alleged encounter of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badlapur school sexual harassment case and threatened the contempt of court against the government.
The High Court in its order of April 7 warned that if the order is not implemented immediately, the criminal contempt of the court would be taken against the state government. It said that this is prima facie crime and it was made mandatory for the investigating agency to register an FIR. The court also ordered the setting up of an SIT under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (Crime) Lakshmi Gautam. Gautam said that he would have to form a team of officers of his choice and DCP will lead it.
Five policemen were blamed in the magistrate’s investigation report in Shinde’s alleged encounter case.
On 23 September last year, Shinde was killed in an alleged encounter in a police van while taking him to interrogate Taloja Jail. Shinde was accused of sexually abusing two minor girls.
