Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the horrific tragedy of the collapse of the under-construction bridge on Betwa river in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister has announced immediate compensation for the families of the workers who lost their lives and the injured in this tragic accident.
Under this announcement made by the government, financial assistance of Rs 5-5 lakh will be provided to the family of each deceased and Rs 50-50 thousand will be provided to those injured in the accident.
How did this tragic accident happen? (Cause of Accident)
According to information received from the police and district administration, this unfortunate incident took place around 3:00 am between Parsani and Kurara Kandaur villages under Lalpura police station area.

Work was going on in two shifts: Work was going on at the bridge construction site in two shifts day and night. At the time of the accident, the workers of the second shift were working on the upper part of the bridge, while the workers of the first shift were resting below after completing the work.

Slab fell while sleeping: Officials said that many workers engaged in construction work were sleeping on the upper part of the slab. Meanwhile, due to the severe storm that came after midnight, the heavy slab of the bridge suddenly collapsed and fell down. The workers sleeping on the upper portion and those below got affected by it.
Identification of dead and injured
So far, the death of 6 people has been confirmed in this horrific accident, whose bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The injured who were safely rescued from the debris are being treated in the district hospital.

CM Yogi and Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak expressed condolences
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on social media platform ‘X’ (Twitter) and described this incident as extremely sad and heartbreaking. He said:
CM Yogi said: “The loss of life in an unfortunate accident on the Betwa river in Hamirpur district is extremely sad and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved family members. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant peace to the departed souls at His feet and speedy recovery to the injured.”
The Chief Minister has directed the district administration, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), to conduct rescue operations at full speed and completely clear the debris to ensure that no one else is buried under the debris.
At the same time, Deputy CM of the state, Brajesh Pathak, expressing deep condolence over the accident, wrote on ‘X’ that the loss of life in this unfortunate accident is extremely painful and the government stands strongly with the bereaved families.
