Another milestone is going to be added to the development of the infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh. Soon work will start on the 700 km long Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway project connecting Purvanchal with western Uttar Pradesh. This ambitious project will not only decrease the time of travel dramatically, but will also promote economic activities in the region. Currently it takes 12-14 hours to travel this journey, but after the expressway is built, this distance can be covered in just 8 hours.
This Greenfield Expressway, which is being seen as the dream project of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will provide direct and fast connectivity between eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. Starting from Gorakhpur, the expressway will go to Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Sitapur, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Sambhal, Amroha, Muzaffarnagar to Shamli. A total of 11 districts will benefit on this route, which will open new possibilities of industrial and social development in these areas.
Sugarcane farmers will benefit greatly with the construction of this expressway. They will be easy to make their yield to the sugar mills and their economic condition will improve. Better connectivity will reduce the cost of logistics and will also create new opportunities for traders. New industrial clusters and logistics hubs along the expressway are also expected to develop, which will increase employment opportunities.
This project reflects the Yogi government’s commitment to strengthen the infrastructure of the state. The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway will be built on the lines of the Ganga Expressway, so that the huge geographical area of Uttar Pradesh can be connected to the modern road network.
