
A very shocking and organized crime case has come to light from Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Gorakhpur Police has exposed an interstate gang which used to trap innocent youths from other states on the pretext of marriage.
It is alleged that this gang used to call boys from outside states to Gorakhpur, first arrange fake marriages for them, and then take them hostage by pretending to be police officers. After this, huge sums of money were extorted by threatening the victim youth and their families. Marriage hoax: The main leader of the gang, Ankur Singh, along with his associates, used to target those youths from other states (like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh etc.) who were not getting married. They were called to Gorakhpur with the lure of marriage.

Fake marriage and hostage taking: After being brought here, a fake marriage was staged with the help of female members of the gang and other associates. As soon as the marriage was over, other male members of the gang would suddenly enter there and call themselves senior officers of Uttar Pradesh Police.

Extortion of huge amount: The victims were held hostage with threats of legal action, jail, and false rape charges. After this, money worth lakhs of rupees was collected by contacting his family members on phone.

As part of the special campaign being run against organized crimes and criminals, under the direction of Superintendent of Police North (SP North) and supervision of Area Officer (CO) Campierganj, Chiluatal police station prepared the complete ‘gang chart’ of this gang.

Gang leader Ankur Singh’s long criminal history: 28 serious cases registered against him
According to Chiluatal Police, Ankur Singh, the leader of this inter-state gang, is a very vicious and professional criminal. According to police records, from the year 2006 to 2026, approximately 28 serious criminal cases Are registered.
Ankur Singh has previously been facing cases under several serious sections like Murder, Attempt to Murder, Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Gangster Act, Arms Act (possessing illegal weapons), NDPS Act (narcotics trafficking) and theft. The other seven members of the gang also have a past criminal history and several cases of fraud and extortion are registered against them.
