News India Live, Digital Desk: There is great news for students dreaming of studying medicine in Delhi. The country’s two leading central universities, Delhi University (DU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), have decided to give a new expansion to their medical wing. While Jamia is preparing to start master courses like MDS, Delhi University has also given green signal to new super-specialty courses. This move will not only increase medical seats but will also provide new opportunities for research and specialization to the students.
Jamia Millia Islamia: Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) will start
This is a major achievement for the Faculty of Dentistry of Jamia Millia Islamia. The university is going to start ‘Master of Dental Surgery’ (MDS) course soon. This will be a great option for dental students who want to pursue specialization after graduation (BDS). For this, Jamia has further upgraded its infrastructure and facilities so that students can get global level education.
Delhi University (DU): Emphasis on super-specialty courses
The Department of Medical Sciences of Delhi University has also intensified its preparations. According to the DU administration, the university is going to launch many new DM and M.Ch courses soon. These courses will be especially for those doctors who want to pursue in-depth study in super-specialty areas like cardiology, neurology and gastroenterology. These courses will be conducted in DU affiliated hospitals like Maulana Azad Medical College and Lady Hardinge.
Admission Process: What will be the rules?
For admission to these new courses, only the entrance examinations conducted at the national level will be made the basis.
For MDS: Students have to qualify the NEET-MDS exam.
For Super-Specialty: Seats will be allotted through counseling on the basis of NEET-SS scores. The detailed timetable of admission will be released soon on the official website of the universities.
Delhi will become a medical hub, students will benefit
Experts believe that with the increase in seats and courses in these two big universities, Delhi will emerge as a major ‘medical education hub’. Students will no longer have to go to other states or foreign countries for higher education. Apart from this, increasing the number of resident doctors in hospitals is also expected to significantly improve patient care and medical services.
New opportunities for youth
This expansion of Jamia and DU will open new doors of employment not only for doctors but also for the youth associated with paramedical and research sectors. If you also want to make your career in the medical field, then keep an eye on the updates of these universities.
