In September this month, the dates of distributing free grain have been announced. Cereals will be distributed on all government ration shops (quota shops) from September 10 to September 25, 2025.
This grain will be given completely free to all eligible card holders under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). For this, instructions have been sent to the officials of all the districts on behalf of the Food Commissioner.
Who will get how much grain? Understand this
There is no confusion about the amount of grains, so it is important for you to know how much ration will be available on your card:
- For Antyodaya card holders (red/pink card): Families who have Antyodaya card will get 35 kg of grain per card. This includes 14 kg of wheat and 21 kg of rice.
- For eligible household card holders (white card): Eligible household card holders will be given 5 kg of grain per unit (on every member of the family). This includes 2 kg of wheat and 3 kg of rice.
Ration will be available only by putting thumb
As usual, this time also the ration will be distributed through ePOS machines. To get ration, you have to apply your thumb (biometric) near the Kotdar.
If for some reason a beneficiary’s thumb does not match, then he does not have to worry. Arrangements have also been made for such a situation. Verification will be done by sending OTP (One Time Password) on the mobile number linked to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar card and after that they will be given ration. The government has given clear instructions that no eligible person should be deprived of getting ration.
