Mathura, August 30 (HS). In Kanha's city Mathura, some people who came posing as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers tried to carry out a robbery at the residence of a bullion trader on Friday, but could not succeed due to the alertness of the trader. Due to the commotion in the colony, a crowd gathered and the fake ED team had to flee from there in a car. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and allegedly arrested a person.
The search has been started for those citing the investigation agency.
Two persons, a woman and a fake police inspector wearing a police uniform, arrived at the residence of jeweller Ashwani Agarwal in a car in Radha Orchid Colony under Govind Nagar police station area of the city at around 7:00 am on Friday. There they showed a fake search warrant to Ashwani Agarwal and asked him to search the house. Meanwhile, jeweller Ashwani Agarwal asked the uniformed person accompanying him from which police station he had come, he said that he had come from Govindpuram police station of the district. Hearing this, he became suspicious, because there is no police station of this name in the district. He immediately ran out of the house and informed the residence of Mathura Vrindavan Municipal Corporation Mayor Vinod Agarwal that some people had entered his house and were calling themselves the ED team. Hearing their noise, more neighbours gathered.
When he asked those alleged ED people who they were and where they had come from, they started looking at each other. Seeing the crowd gathering, they panicked and fled in their car. As soon as this information was received, it was immediately given to the SSP and Govind Nagar police station.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shailesh Pandey, who reached the spot, said that all the CCTV cameras installed on Masani Road including the colony are being scanned. The entire incident has been recorded in the CCTV. The white car in which those people had come is being searched. The SSP said that an investigation is being conducted in the car in which an investigation team was caught.
The alleged people who came claiming to be from the agency are being traced, a blockade has been put in place in the entire district. Whoever they are, they will be caught soon.
