Mandi/method. Mandi flood update: On Sunday morning, heavy rains started in Mandi district. While relief and rescue operations have been affected by this, the fertile lands of villagers were washed away due to cloudburst in Silhabudhani, the village panchayat of Chauharghati of the method subdivision. However, no news of loss of life and property has been revealed so far. The administrative team has been sent to the spot.
It is being told that there has been a flood in a drain flowing here, the land near it has come in its grip. The upcoming situation will be known only after the team sent on the spot. On the other hand, people are again scared due to rain in Saraj. After the ongoing alert from the administration, people kept awake till late night, light rain started at around 2 pm.
55 people still missing
It intensified in the morning. The administration had reached Saraj on Saturday, it was expected to speed up relief work, but in the rains today, concerns have been raised again. There is difficulty in restoring the road in this situation.
So far 55 people have been missing since the rain of June 30 and 18 bodies have been recovered. On the other hand, SDM method Surjit Singh said that the team has been sent after getting information about the cloudburst. There is no reported loss of any kind yet. Only people’s land is book.
Three footbridge and a bridge shed
A cloudburst in Kratang village of Silhbudhani, Gram Panchayat of Chauhar Valley, caused heavy havoc on Saturday night. In the incident, three foot bridges (footbridges) including a bus qualified bridge have been completely swept away. The fertile land, standing crops and gardens of the villagers have also merged into the debris and water, causing heavy economic losses to the people.
Panchayat head Prem Singh Thakur and BDC member Kamla Thakur said that there has been no loss of life and property in this natural disaster, but the local infrastructure has suffered deep damage. SDM Surjit Singh Thakur said that the administrative party has left for the spot and the work of assessing the loss is being done on priority basis.
