Flight Ticket Cancellation: Good news for air passengers! The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has prepared to make major changes in the rules of ticket cancellation and refund. If you want to cancel the ticket within 48 hours of booking, there will be no extra charges. This facility will also be applicable on changing the date in the ticket. According to the DGCA proposal, passengers will get complete relaxation during this ‘look-in’ period.
Where will the refund go?
After ticket cancellation, the refund amount will not be credited to the airline’s credit shell or wallet by default. The passenger will be able to choose where to deposit the money.
Full refund within 21 days
Even if you have purchased the ticket through a travel agent or online portal, the airline will still be responsible for the refund. Airlines must provide full refund within 21 working days.
These rules are currently in draft form
All these changes are still in the draft stage. DGCA has invited suggestions till November 30. Passengers and consumer groups have long been complaining about last-minute charges. This proposal can be the solution to this problem. If these rules are implemented, Indian air passengers will get great relief.
