News India Live, Digital Desk: Violence after Bengal Elections: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who is investigating the cases of large -scale violence after 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal, has got a major success. This is the first criminal punishment among the several cases investigated by the CBI. The case is related to the heinous rape of a 9 -year -old innocent girl in Deganga in North 24 Parganas, whose accused Debaprasad Das has now been convicted.

What was the matter and when the violence took place?
The incident took place after the West Bengal assembly elections in May 2021. Immediately after the election results, political violence erupted in many parts of the state. Meanwhile, a 9 -year -old girl was allegedly raped by Debaprasad Das in Deganga in North 24 Parganas district.

CBI investigated, court convicted:
Earlier the investigation of the case was started by the local police and an FIR was also registered. But the Calcutta High Court had directed to hand over several serious cases of violence after the elections in 2021 to the CBI. In August 2021, the CBI took an investigation into the case and filed a charge sheet against the accused Debaprasad Das in November 2021.

After a long hearing, on Tuesday, the CBI Special Court at Barasat convicted Debaprasad Das of this disgusting crime. The court will now sentence the case in this case, including life imprisonment or death sentence.

Why is this decision important?
This decision is very important because it is the first of the many high-profile cases related to the violence after the West Bengal elections, which the CBI was investigating, and in which the court has convicted someone. Many political personalities and human rights organizations, including BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari, were constantly demanding quick justice in these cases. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) also investigated these incidents and in its report spoke of violation of human rights in the state.

This punishment is expected that the victims will get justice in such cases and will help prevent such incidents in future.
