If your vehicle’s FASTag suddenly stops working at the toll plaza, there is no need to panic. Recently, many vehicle owners have faced this problem. The main reason for this is the KYV verification process, which has been made mandatory by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). This system ensures that each FASTag is linked to the correct vehicle and is not misused.

What is Fastag KYV?

FASTag KYV is a vehicle identification process whereby vehicle owners have to prove that their FASTag sticker is on the vehicle for which it was issued. This verification includes uploading the car registration certificate and a photograph of the vehicle. The purpose of this process is to prevent fraud, especially in cases where commercial vehicles misuse the tags of other vehicles.

What has changed in Fastag KYV?

  1. There is no need to upload multiple photos like before. Vehicle owners will have to upload only one front photo, in which the number plate and the Fastag installed on the windshield are clearly visible.
  2. When you will enter your vehicle number, the system will automatically get the RC from the vehicle database. Will get the information.
  3. If for any reason the KYV remains incomplete then Fastag will not be deactivated immediately.
  4. Instead, NHAI will send SMS reminders to the vehicle owner to complete the process.
  5. If Fastags of multiple vehicles are registered on the same mobile number, the owner can now choose which vehicle is to be verified first.
  6. Additionally, if there is any problem in uploading the documents, the concerned bank will itself contact the customer and provide assistance.
