New rules of UPI: There will be a big change in the UPI payment system in the coming days. The UPI ‘Collect request’ will be closed from 1 October. Know what will be the effect on your daily transactions.

The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has decided to close the ‘Collect Request’ facility for the Peer-to-Pier (P2P) UPI transaction since October 1, 2025. It is learned that this step has been taken to prevent fraud and abuse.

What is change? : ‘Collect request’ feature is a feature in which one person sends requests to take money from another person. For example, this feature is used to share a restaurant bill with friends or remind them of repaying them. Money can be sent by accepting this request. It can also be rejected.

This feature designed for the convenience of customers is being misused by the fraudsters. Innocent users are being cheated by sending fake money transfer requests and seduced to accept them. This facility is being discontinued from 1 October.

Objective: This change is to prevent fraud. The organization is making UPI more secure. Instead of using this method to get money from friends, now you can only request money through payment links, QR code or messaging app.
