New Delhi, 05 September (HS). On the occasion of Teachers' Day, a program was organized at British Lingua, an institute renowned for its exceptional English communication skills training. On this occasion, renowned educationist and author Dr. Birbal Jha said that education is a milestone in the upliftment of an individual and society. While addressing the students, he said that every teacher should teach his students in such a way that they become proficient in that subject.
In his address, Dr. Jha said that a teacher should always avoid teaching his students only with the aim of passing the examination. The basic purpose of education is to give complete information about the subject to the students and to develop them all-round. Jha said that if a teacher is unable to do this, then there is no point in being a teacher. He said that teaching is considered the most sacred work in the world.
Jha further said that “Sarvepalli Dr. Radhakrishnan has said that an engineer's mistake gets buried in the wall like a brick. A lawyer's mistake gets buried in a file. A doctor's mistake gets buried in the crematorium. But a teacher's mistake keeps twinkling in the universe forever.” Therefore, a teacher should understand his responsibility. Teachers have a huge responsibility, it always needs to be taken seriously. Teachers guide many generations.
Dr Jha further said that the guidance of a teacher can change one's life. Hence, a teacher is expected to explain the fundamentals of doing any work to the students. In today's times, teachers should teach their students about being self-reliant, as the proverb goes: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Dr Jha said that a teacher should tell his students about the ways to establish themselves in each field. As the saying goes, there are tricks in every job. Students need to learn professional skills, techniques and methods that make tasks easier or more efficient. Jha further said that experience matters a lot. Experience is the best teacher. It states that most of the knowledge is acquired from experience rather than education or other means.
He said that people who go through the school or university of difficulties look more mature. Everyone has a scope for improvement, be it me or you or anyone else. We should keep updating and improving ourselves. Jha further said that we should not lose hope in case of failure in our attempt. It gives us an opportunity to learn and improve our way of working.
