The Finance Ministry said in a statement that the Revenue Intelligence Directorate (DRI) seized 52.67 kg methmfetamine tablets from the outskirts of Eizol in Mizoram. The price of this tablet in the international market is estimated at Rs 52.67 crore.
Initial investigation has revealed that this drug was smuggled into Mizoram via Myanmar to Zokhavathar sector.
The ministry said that in the late night operation, DRI officials stopped a 12 -wheeler truck on the outskirts of Aizaw and seized 52.67 kg Mittermine tablets from it.
Carefully packed 52 packets of brick -sized packets were hidden in the cover of the tarpaulin placed near the control board of the truck.
3030 Exports only and 999 were written on these packets and had a symbol of diamonds on them. This packet had orange-pink colored pills. The ministry further stated that when these pills were tested using the NDPS field test kit, methamfetamine was found in them.
The truck from which these bullets were seized were seized from Nagaland. The truck had reached Tripura via a sensitive city of Dhukhawathar on the Indo-Myanmar border.
The DRI caught the truck before leaving Mizoram. At the time when the truck was stopped, there was no other items in it. Earlier, this truck took cement from Meghalaya to Champhai.
The truck driver and his assistant have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act, 1985.
It is noteworthy that in the current calendar year, DRI seized 148.50 kg metamphetamine tablets from the northeastern region.
