Now winter has slowly started spreading in Delhi-NCR. The cold winds of morning and night have made people realize that now is the time to remove sweaters and shawls. ACs and coolers have been switched off in homes a long time ago, now fans have also stopped running.
However, the sunlight coming out during the day still makes one feel mildly warm, but this relief does not last long. The Meteorological Department has warned that the mercury may drop down to 14 degrees Celsius in the coming days, which will cause a huge increase in the cold.
Why and when will the cold increase?
According to the Meteorological Department, today i.e. on 4th November, a new Western Disturbance is becoming active in the Himalayan region. This will also have a direct impact on the weather of Delhi, due to which the temperature will drop and the severity of cold will increase. Between November 5 and 9, the minimum temperature can range between 13 to 19 degrees Celsius.
How will be the weather of Delhi today?
According to the Meteorological Department, today the morning started with light fog and mist in Delhi-NCR. There is a possibility of sunshine during the day, but as the evening approaches, the temperature will drop once again and the weather will become cool. Today the maximum temperature is expected to be around 29 degrees and the minimum temperature will be around 18 degrees Celsius.
Deadly effect of pollution along with cold
The people of Delhi are currently facing a double whammy – on one hand the changing weather and on the other hand deadly pollution. The capital is completely wrapped in smog and the air quality has reached ‘very poor’ levels.
- This morning’s AQI: Delhi’s average AQI was recorded at 309, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category.
- The condition of NCR is also bad:
- Noida: 329
- Greater Noida: 318
- Ghaziabad: 375 (close to critical category)
- Gurugram: 218
- Faridabad: 195
On Monday, the Ridge area of Delhi was the coldest with a minimum temperature of 13.4 degrees Celsius. This cocktail of changing climate and dangerous pollution is extremely harmful for health. Doctors have advised people, especially children and the elderly, to avoid going out in the early morning.
