Post

News India Live, Digital Desk: The “Researchganga” portal of the University Grants Commission (UGC), which is a wide digital reserves of research papers and PhD dissertations, is demonstrating research trends of various Indian universities. However, there is a clear dominance of universities in the southern states in depositing research works on the portal. Only three universities have been able to make it to the top ten list from large states like Uttar Pradesh, which have the highest number of state universities (more than 28) and more than 60 private universities in the country.

The “Researchganga” portal presents a huge collection of more than 4 lakh 35 thousand dissertations and research papers from more than 550 universities across the country. The objective of this initiative is to easily provide research work done in higher education for researchers, academics and students, so that knowledge can be spread and duplicate can be avoided.

According to the data, universities from southern states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are playing a leading role in collecting research. On the other hand, only Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) from Uttar Pradesh, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) Kanpur and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) have been able to make their place in the top ten at the national level.

The AMU Researchganga ranks fifth on the portal with more than 13,000 dissertations. CSJMU Kanpur ranks eighth position with more than 9,000 research works, while BHU ranks tenth with more than 8,000 disserted disserteds. Although these three universities are performing remarkable, the matter of concern for Uttar Pradesh is that the performance of other big and important universities of the state is not encouraging. The list of top 50 universities in the state also includes only 4-5 from Uttar Pradesh.

Experts believe that research work is not being uploaded on time due to lack of awareness or technical problems about the research Ganga portal in many universities of Uttar Pradesh. This situation indicates that other universities of the state need to pay special attention to their research productivity and their digitization so that they can strengthen their presence at the national level and equal the southern states in the field of research.
