News India Live, Digital Desk: If you live in Lucknow and have a lovely friend i.e. a pet dog in your house, then this news is directly related to you. Lucknow Municipal Corporation has started a big campaign to check the license of pet dogs. Municipal Corporation teams these days are roaming in different areas of the city early in the morning, especially in parks and posh colonies, where people come out to walk their dogs.
Checking starts at 6:30 in the morning
On the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, a combined team of Animal Welfare Department and Dog Catching Squad starts work at 6:30 in the morning. On Thursday, when the team started checking in areas like Bangla Bazaar Square, Sharda Khand and Ruchi Khand of Zone-8, there was panic among the unlicensed owners. Many people started changing their path as soon as they saw the team and some were even seen trying to run away.
Why is license so important?
According to the Municipal Corporation, there are about 10,000 pet dogs in Lucknow, but many of them are not registered or licensed. Keeping a dog without a license is against the rules. A license ensures that your dog has had the necessary vaccinations, such as rabies, to keep both it and the community safe. This step is also very important to maintain the safety and cleanliness of the city.
Fine of thousands is being imposed, a dog was also confiscated
The Municipal Corporation is not showing any leniency during this campaign. In the drive conducted on Thursday, a total fine of Rs 20,000 was collected from four people who were walking dogs without a license. Not only this, licenses of some people were also made on the spot, due to which a total of Rs 24,000 was deposited in the corporation’s treasury. A Rottweiler breed dog was even temporarily confiscated by the team, which was later released after the owner paid a fine.
