If you are also planning to go to your home by plane this Diwali, then there is a relief news for you. The prices of air tickets, which used to skyrocket during festivals, have now come down to earth. After the government’s intervention, airline companies have increased the number of flights on many important routes, which has had a direct impact on ticket prices.
Government gave relief, airlines increased flights
Every year around Diwali, the demand for air tickets increased so much that the prices became beyond the reach of the common man. In view of this problem, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aviation Ministry gave strict instructions to the airlines to increase flights. Its effect was also seen immediately.
Big companies like IndiGo and Air India together have started about 1700 additional flights. IndiGo alone has added 730 more flights and Air India Group has added 486 more flights. Especially the passengers going to Bihar have got a big relief, because Air India has started 38-38 additional flights on routes like Delhi-Patna, Mumbai-Patna and Bengaluru-Patna. These flights will run from 22 October to 3 November 2025, so that those going home on Diwali and Chhath do not face any problem.
Huge drop in ticket prices, know how much it became cheaper
With more flights running, the shortage of tickets has ended and prices have fallen drastically. Compared to those who were booking tickets 10 days ago, those booking now are getting a lot of benefit.
- Delhi-Mumbai: The ticket which was earlier priced at Rs 7,000, is now available for only Rs 5,000.
- Delhi-Kolkata: The expensive ticket of Rs 11,000 is now available for Rs 8,300.
- Mumbai-Lucknow: The biggest decline has been seen on this route, where a ticket of Rs 16,000 is now available for Rs 10,500.
- Mumbai-Varanasi: The ticket of Rs 16,000 has also become cheaper to Rs 11,500.
- Delhi-Patna: The ticket to Bihar which was priced at Rs 12,500 is now available for Rs 7,800.
- Delhi-Darbhanga: The most shocking fall is on this route. The ticket which was available for Rs 20,000 is now available for Rs 10,700, almost halved.
This move is a big relief for millions of people who travel to meet their families during festivals. If you have not booked your ticket yet, this could be the right opportunity.
