According to telecom sector experts, companies are now discontinuing their low-cost plans. This decision will especially impact users with long-term prepaid and data plans. Currently, telcos are earning an average of ₹180 to ₹195 per user, whereas they need to earn more than ₹200 per user to break even.
According to sources, the price increase may come into effect from December 2025. For example, the current ₹199 plan may increase to ₹222, while the 28-day ₹299 (2GB/day) plan may increase to ₹349. Similarly, the ₹330-₹345 plan for 84 days can be priced between ₹949 to ₹999. With this increase, users choosing long term plans will have to spend more.
Telecom companies are currently investing heavily in the expansion of 5G networks, which is increasing financial pressure. Without directly increasing prices, they are gradually removing affordable plans from the market. It is being told that both Airtel and Vodafone Idea have also started preparations to increase revenue.
Experts believe that recharge rates may increase by 10 to 15 percent between December 2025 and June 2026. Jio may rise by about 15 percent before its IPO, while Airtel and Vodafone Idea may rise by up to 10 percent.
Right now users have only one chance. If you want to avoid rising prices, it may make more sense to go for a long-term recharge plan valid only till November 2025. With this, you will be able to get service at the current rates only for the next few months.
