Banda, December 30: With the aim of strengthening the juvenile justice system and effective implementation of laws related to child protection in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh, a one-day juvenile justice and child protection workshop was organized on Tuesday at Maharishi Bamdev Auditorium, Banda. The workshop was presided over by Deputy Inspector General of Police Chitrakootdham Zone Banda Rajesh S. Did it, while District Magistrate Banda J. Reebha and Superintendent of Police Banda Palash Bansal were specially present.
The main objective of the workshop was to make the officers aware about the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act-2015, schemes, procedures related to child protection and the roles of various departments and to provide timely, sensitive and legal assistance to the children.
In the workshop, all the Additional Superintendents of Police, Nodal Officers, Chairman Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board members, District Probation Officer, Protection Officer, District Child Welfare Officer, Law cum Probation Officer, Child Helpline 1098 in-charge, One Stop Center center administrator, Special Juvenile Police Unit in-charge, Police Station AHT in-charge, nominated child welfare police officers at all police stations and Mission Shakti Center in-charge and officers and employees of many departments were present in the workshop.
In the workshop, special emphasis was laid on the fact that the role of police is very important in matters related to juvenile justice and child protection. All officers and employees were directed to ensure humane, sensitive and legal action in cases related to children and to follow the procedures prescribed in the Act in letter and spirit.
Under the Juvenile Justice Act-2015, important provisions related to children in conflict with the law and children in need of care and protection were discussed in detail. Also, emphasis was laid on further strengthening the role of investigators, timely action, procedural precautions and inter-departmental coordination.
Apart from this, detailed information was also given about the concept of Mission Shakti Kendra, outline of meetings of Special Juvenile Police Unit, POCSO Act-2012, Standard Operating Procedure in cases of missing children, Child Marriage Prohibition Act-2006 and the efforts being made under ‘Child Marriage Free India Campaign’.
During the workshop, practical problems related to child protection were discussed and their solutions were also discussed. The participants present shared their experiences and presented suggestions.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Deputy Inspector General of Police Shri Rajesh S. Officers and employees who did excellent work in the field of child protection in various districts of Chitrakootdham region were honored by giving them citations and mementos.
