News India Live, Digital Desk: On the occasion of Holi, there is no space to step in trains going to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. There is a huge crowd of passengers gathering at Kanpur Central and Lucknow Charbagh stations, due to which the situation seems to be getting out of control.

1. Impact on Vande Bharat and other trains

Premium train running between Kanpur and Lucknow Vande Bharat Express is also not untouched by this crowd and the ongoing technical work on the route.

Delays and Cancellations: Due to maintenance and heavy traffic on the route, trains like Vande Bharat and Intercity are running hours behind schedule.

Demand for additional stoppage: In view of the increasing number of passengers, there is a demand for temporary stoppage of some trains, due to which the schedule is being further affected.

2. Allegations of mismanagement at stations

Passengers have complained that there is a lack of basic facilities at the stations:

No space in waiting hall: There are more people present in the waiting rooms of Kanpur Central than the capacity, due to which the elderly and children have to sit on the floor.

Long queues at the ticket window: There is a wait for hours for general tickets, and there is a scramble for ‘unlocked’ seats.

3. Railway’s ‘Holi Special’ preparation (Railway’s Plan)

To control the crowd, Northern Railway and North Central Railway have made some special arrangements:

Holi Special Trains: Additional Holi special trains are being run from Kanpur and Lucknow to Delhi, Patna and Katra.

Additional Coach: Extra coaches (General and Sleeper) have been added to some regular trains to reduce the waiting list.

RPF deployment: Additional companies of Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been deployed to prevent stampede-like situations at stations.

Important advice for travelers (Travel Tips)

Use the NTES app: Use the National Train Inquiry System (NTES) to know the ‘Live Location’ and platform number of your train.

Arrive early: Considering the crowd, try to reach the station at least 1 hour before the train time.

Avoid unauthorized vendors: To ensure purity of food during Holi, buy items only from authorized vendors.
