A picture coming from a government school in Madhya Pradesh has shocked the entire country and has raised serious questions on the system. In a middle school in Hulpur village of Sheopur district, mid-day meal was being served to innocent children on pieces of paper instead of plates. As soon as the video of this shameful incident went viral, there was a stir among the administrative staff, after which swift action was taken and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the government.

Why did this situation arise? The reason is equally shocking

When the matter was investigated, the reason came to light even more surprising. Actually, the responsibility of cooking and serving food in the school was of a self-help group (SHG) named ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’. On the day of the incident, two employees who cleaned the utensils were on leave, due to which the utensils remained dirty. In such a situation, instead of keeping the children hungry, the school staff decided to serve them food on paper, the video of which was made viral by someone on November 4.

As soon as the video went viral, the administration lost its sleep, major action was taken

As soon as the matter came to light, the administration took immediate action. On 6 November officials inspected the school and several major decisions were taken:

  • Contract cancelled: children’s food provider Contract of ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ self-help group canceled with immediate effect It has been done.
  • Headmaster suspended: For not being able to implement the plan properly School headmaster suspended Has been done.
  • Notice to authorities: Two others for negligence in monitoring show cause notice to officials Has been issued.

Now the responsibility of cooking and serving food has been handed over to the School Management Committee (SMC).

“In 20 years, even children’s plates have been snatched away” – angry Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took the government to task over this incident. Posting the video on ‘X’, he wrote, “Ever since I saw this news in the newspapers… my heart is broken.”

He further wrote, “These are the same innocent children on whose dreams the future of the country depends, and they are not even getting a plate of respect. It has been more than 20 years since the BJP government has been in power, and they have snatched away the plate of children too – their ‘development’ is just an illusion, the real secret of their coming to power is the ‘system’.” He said in sharp words, “Such a Chief Minister and Prime Minister should be ashamed that they have kept the children of the country, the future of India, in this pitiful condition.”
