News India Live, Digital Desk: There is big news for the passengers traveling between Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, and Delhi. New fare rates have been fixed for Volvo and AC buses operating on the newly constructed Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. The Transport Department has released the fare list based on distance and facilities, which will have a direct impact on the passengers traveling daily. Time will be saved through the expressway, but now passengers will have to pay more for luxury travel than before.
New rates applicable for Volvo and AC buses
According to the order issued by the Transport Corporation, the fare of Volvo buses running between Dehradun and Delhi has now been adjusted according to the new route and expressway toll. Officials say that in view of the toll tax and better facilities on the expressway, there has been a slight increase in the fare. Different slabs have been prepared for AC Janrath and Volvo buses, so that passengers can get the option as per their convenience.
Will the fare outweigh the time savings?
With the opening of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the distance between the two cities is expected to be reduced to just two and a half to three hours. While on one hand the passengers are happy to reach in less time, on the other hand the increase in fares has increased their worries. The transport department argues that operating buses on expressways will save fuel and reduce maintenance of vehicles, but the heavy toll charges on the high-speed corridor will be compensated only through fares.
Impact will be visible on these routes also
This change in fare will not be limited only to the main Delhi-Dehradun route, but the rates of buses running on other connecting routes connecting to the expressway may also be affected. Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) has made it clear that currently an effort has been made to keep the fares of ordinary buses under control, so that there is no additional burden on the common man. However, passengers who want to avail premium services will have to book tickets as per the new rates.
Changes started appearing in online booking
As soon as the new fare rates are implemented, they have been updated on the online portal of the Transport Corporation and the ticket counters at the bus stands. Passengers have been advised to check the latest fares through the official website or mobile app before leaving for the journey. The department has also indicated that the frequency of buses on the expressway will be increased in the coming days so that passengers can get rid of the waiting list.
