Congress MP Ranjit Ranjan raised the subject in the Lok Sabha and accused the BJP leaders of spreading ‘false propaganda’ about the tradition of Sindoor Khela. Ranjit Ranjan clarified that ‘Sindoor Khela is a sacred ritual of women from West Bengal, which is celebrated with happiness and devotion during Durga Puja. They allege that BJP leaders, including Union Minister Smriti Irani, are presenting this tradition incorrectly so that hatred and division can be created in the society. He raised this matter under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha, demanding a discussion on this sensitive issue in the House. This issue will not be limited to the Lok Sabha only; It is reported that ‘Operation Sindoor’ is going to be debated tomorrow, i.e. on 22 June. The dispute is revolving around the politicization of a religious ritual and its alleged misuse, which is feared to affect communal harmony in the country. The debate on this issue in both the houses of Parliament is expected to highlight various aspects of this sensitive subject, and it will also have to be seen what the government takes on it.
