Curfew imposed in Jalgaon after minister’s driver blows horn

Mumbai: In Paladhi village of Jalgaon, Maharashtra, when the driver of state minister and local MLA Gulabrao Patil tried to disperse the crowd by blowing the car’s horn, after a dispute on this issue, local people and workers of Eknath Shinde’s party Shiv Sena came face to face. Have come. As the matter escalated, riots broke out. In which more than 15 shops and vehicles were set on fire and stones were pelted. To control the situation, the police had to impose curfew.

There was a lot of damage to public property in the violence. Police have arrested about seven people. While further investigation has been started to nab other accused.

A police officer said on Wednesday that the situation deteriorated after a minor dispute between the driver of the minister’s car and a group of local people.

At around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night, Gulabrao Patil’s car passed by carrying his wife and other family members. This time Gulabrao himself was not present in the car. Due to there being a huge crowd on the road, the car driver blew the horn to clear the crowd standing in front. He asked people to give way, it is said that this time the car collided with a young man. After this, fighting and later fighting started.

The crowd gathered in the crowd misbehaved with the driver. On the other hand, as soon as the news spread that Gulabrao Patil’s wife was trapped among the crowd, local Shiv Sena workers also gathered. The mob vandalized the minister’s car and beat up the driver.

Two groups had come face to face. 15-20 shops and vehicles were set on fire. People also pelted stones. After getting information about the incident, senior police officers reached the spot. The attackers fled when the police arrived. The fire was brought under control with the help of fire brigade. To stabilize the situation, curfew was imposed in the village from 3 am today. Police sources said that curfew has been imposed for 24 hours.

Additional police personnel, State Reserve Police Force, remote control police teams along with fire brigade vehicles were deployed in the village.

Police have registered a case against unknown accused and arrested about seven. Search is on for the youth who set fire to vehicles including shops.

Gulabrao Patil is currently the Water Resources Minister in the newly formed Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra. He is the MP from Jalgaon Rural constituency.
