
News India Live, Digital Desk: Correction of Voter List in Bihar: Election Commission of India ECI has made a shocking disclosure in the special brief revision of the recent voter list. More than 52 lakh such voters have been found in Bihar who are either not present at their given address, or their data is impure. According to data from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, more than 52.01 lakh voters were not found on their recorded addresses, causing serious questions on the accuracy of the voter list before the upcoming elections. This big exercise has been done with the aim of making the voter list unfortunate before the Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections. Under this revision process, booth level officer (BLO) go door-to-door to do physical verification of voters. During this verification, it was revealed that a large number of people have either gone to some other place, have died, or have been repeated in their names (duplicate entries). The Election Commission is active to overcome this serious discrepancy so that every legitimate voter’s name is registered correctly and no unnecessary or invalid name is included in the list. On the instructions of ECI, the names of all the suspected voters who could not get any concrete information about have not been found, have been removed from the voter list. Apart from this, detailed investigation is also being done in relation to the voters whose information has been found incomplete or wrong to ensure that only qualified citizens can exercise the right to vote. This process not only ensures the purity and transparency of elections, but also guarantees that every vote has real importance. This huge revision campaign is an important step towards strengthening the democratic process, especially when the country and the states are getting ready for large electoral riot. The move is expected to curb the possibilities of fake voting and the voting process will become more reliable.
