Coindcx victim of cyber attack: 368 crore cryptocurrency stolen

New Delhi: India’s leading cryptocurrency exchange coindcx has become a victim of a large cyber attack. In the incident on Saturday, 19 July 2025, cryptocurrency worth about Rs 368 crore ($ 44.2 million) was stolen from an internal operating account in the exchange. Confirming the co-founders of Coindcx, the co-founders said that this dent was made in an account used for their liquidity provisioning (liquidity provision), not directly in the customer fund wallet. Coindcx has made it clear in its official statement that this cyber attack protects customers’ money. The company has assured that the property of the customer kept in their safe wallet has not been affected. Coindcx CEO Sumit Gupta said that the stolen amount will be completed by the company’s own treasury (Treasury) and there will be no harm to the customers. Following this incident, COindcx immediately separated the affected accounts and temporarily suspended the respective web3 services, however, other services such as trading and fiat (INR) continued to run normally. The event re -exposes safety concerns in the Cryptocurrency Industry. In 2024 globally, the cryptocurrency hacks stolen more than $ 2.2 billion. Last year, another Indian exchange Wazirx was also a victim of a major cyber attack, stolen a crypto of millions of dollars. Taking a lesson from this incident, Coindcx has said to further strengthen its security system and work on measures to prevent such attacks in future. The company is working closely with cyber security experts and is also planning to start a bug bounty program.
