During the high level meeting held at Lok Bhawan, when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked about the eligibility, rules and outline prepared so far for the distribution of scooters, the officials said that the final rules and draft on this have not been fully prepared yet.
The Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure over this laxity of the officials. CM Yogi directed in a strict tone that the guidelines and eligibility rules should be determined as soon as possible without any delay, so that the work on the next phase of the scheme can start. The Chief Minister clearly said that by making the entire process transparent and quick, distribution of scooties to meritorious girl students should be ensured as soon as possible.
Huge budget of ₹400 crore approved for the first phase
After the tough stance of the Chief Minister, now the Higher Education Department has started working on war footing to decide the criteria of merit for distribution of free scooty.

Beneficiary: According to the assessment of the Education Department, through this allocated budget, in the first phase, about 45,000 most meritorious girl students of the state can be given free scooties. The department is seriously deliberating whether the selection of girl students should be done on the basis of first year marks in Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) classes or on the basis of final year examination results. Its rules will be made public soon.
