News India Live, Digital Desk: None of us can forget that dark night of 26 November 2008 in Mumbai. When the Taj Hotel Mumbai was filled with smoke and screams, there were some angels there who were wearing uniforms and playing hide and seek with death. There is one name among them, whose story is not limited to just the bravery of that night, but is the story of the real ‘war’ that started after that night.
We are talking about former MARCOS Commando Praveen Kumar Teotia of.
He comes face to face with death in Taj
That night when the terrorists captured the Taj Hotel, Praveen was the point man of his team. That means the person who walks in front. They encountered four terrorists hiding in a room. Bullets were raining like rain. Praveen was hit by not one, not two, but four bullets.
One bullet passed near his ear due to which he almost lost his hearing ability, and one bullet pierced his lung. Despite being drenched in blood, he did not give up. He continued to engage the terrorists until the remaining hostages and their team were secured. His bravery that night almost Saved the lives of 150 people,
He was also honored with Shaurya Chakra, but the story does not end here. The real test was about to begin.
“Now you won’t be able to do anything.”
When Praveen returned after months of lying in the hospital bed, he felt that everyone would welcome him. But something else happened. The medical board told him “Unfit” relaxed me. He was told that now he could not do commando duty. He was put on a desk job in the Navy, just like an old file is kept aside.
Just imagine, the man who was ‘the most lethal commando of the country’ was told that he cannot even run anymore. For Praveen it was more painful than the bullets. Depression surrounded him, but a soldier never surrenders.
Stubbornness is such that even medical science loses
Praveen decided that he would write his own destiny. He began to rebuild his broken body. The doctors kept saying that his lungs were bad and he would not be able to run… but Praveen started running.
This “unfit” soldier will face the toughest race in the world ‘Ironman Triathlon’ Became a part of. An Ironman triathlon involves constant swimming, cycling, and running—even for the average person, it’s a lot of hard work. By completing this competition held in South Africa in 2017, Praveen proved that the real strength is not in the muscles but in the liver.
Today Praveen Teotia (Praveen Teotia Ironman) runs marathons all over the world and is known as ‘Ironman’. He proved that disability does not lie in the body but in the thinking of a person.
the lessons we learn
Today, when we give up on small problems, Praveen Tewatia’s story shows us a mirror. On 26/11 (26/11 Anniversary), along with remembering those martyrs, we should also salute the spirit of this living legend who defeated both the system and death.
