
Today, there was heavy selling in mid-cap and small-cap stocks as compared to large-cap. The BSE Midcap index closed down 2.44 percent and the BSE Smallcap index 2.56 percent, while the Sensex fell by 0.74 percent.
At the end of the session, the BSE Midcap index closed at 42,528 with a decline of 1,061 points, while the BSE Smallcap index fell by 1,261 points to close at 48,005. The midcap index in Intrade increased by 1,597 points, while the smallcap index increased by 1,912 points. Like midcap and smallcap shares, SME IPO stocks also saw a huge decline and the BSE SME IPO index fell 2,216 points or 2.35 percent to close at 92,187 after an intraday fall of 3,786 points.
